“Often as plus size women, we’re told what isn’t flattering on our bodies. We should hide ourselves and not love our bodies.
I say, ‘We wear what you want’ because we can and our bodies are beautiful. ”

About Kawana Dupree
Kawana "Kay" Dupree is an American fashion designer and stylist known for her commitment to redefining the narrative around plus-size fashion.
A proud New York City native, Kay graduated from the Art Institute of New York City with a degree in Fashion Design. During her studies, she quickly recognized a gap in the industry: plus-size women were consistently overlooked, underrepresented, and underserved. Fueled by this realization, she made it her mission to elevate and celebrate plus-size fashion—bringing visibility, style, and confidence to the forefront.
In 2007, Kay began styling and writing for online publications, using her voice to empower and educate plus-size consumers. Her writing and styling work helped shift the conversation, proving that style has no size limit.
In 2011, she launched Pockets Are Everything, a fashion website that quickly gained recognition as a go-to destination for stylish, body-positive content and community.
Believing that fashion is as much about self-expression as it is about education, Kay released her debut guide in 2012, 10 Simple Rules to Being Stylish. This pocket-sized manifesto offered practical advice on curating personal style while becoming a smart, confident shopper.
Kay’s fashion philosophy is bold and unwavering:
“In the fashion world, we are often rejected, pushed to the back, and last to be noticed. But we are beautiful—and we deserve to be dressed as such.”
With every design, article, and appearance, Kay Dupree continues to reshape the landscape of inclusive fashion—one stylish step at a time.
